Description
This is one of two Tigers issued to the staff of the 501 battalion. It was not a Befehlstiger and appears to have no special features appropriate for its role. The battalion's staff Tigers lasted until near the end of the campaign. Tiger 01 was still in service on 13 April 1943, but was lost by 19 April (see 'Combat Tactics' 9.2). An Allied document claims that a 17pdr gun destroyed it.
