Description
The remains of a Tiger, number "01" belonging to the command staff of s.Pz.Abt.501 in Tunisia. The photo was taken on May 7, 1943 and it claims that the tank was "knocked out by a 17 pounder". A detached run of track is in the foreground, and the tank's rear left wheels are behind it. Above them, the hull side wall and roof have been blown off exposing an air intake duct, a crushed fuel tank, a radiator and a cooling fan. One of the road wheels is annotated as "Pz. Abt. 501 77 kg", evidence of a chaotic supply chain. This is obviously the same wreck as in another photo.
