Description
In June 1944, the 504 battalion fought the invading American forces in Grosseto province. They spent the last few days of June retreating 100km to Pontedera. A shocking one half of their Tigers broke down and had to be abandoned, mostly due to mechanical failure. The losses began at Larderello. Tiger "111" and one other Tiger were abandoned together on the road near Saline, level with Volterra.
