Description
The staff officers of the 501 battalion were issued 2 Tigers. Design of the Befehlstiger was not complete, therefore they got standard Tigers with no special radio equipment. This was a handicap in the battalion's engagements. Tiger 02, one of the staff tanks, was still in service on 13 April 1943 but was lost by 19 April (see 'Combat Tactics' 9.2).
