Thumbnail image: Tiger 131 heads for Beja

Description

Tiger 131 passes a stationary vehicle while climbing into the hills on the Mateur-Sidi N'sir route. Operation Ochsenkopf is under way and it is dawn on 26 February 1943. The parked vehicle is an Sd.Kfz.251 command car fitted with a frame antenna and multiple radio sets; four men are operating the radios in it.

A few moments earlier, this Tiger passed a staff car containing the battle group's commanders. They seem to be using this spot on the road as a temporary command post.

Another photo of Tiger 131 will be taken taken moments later, and a photo of a captured halftrack will be made 250m ahead of this spot. Any doubt about this Tiger's partially hidden tactical number is erased by this tank's similarity to a clear photo of Tiger 131 made a few days later; damage to the the exhaust shields and mudflaps is a match.
