Tigers 121 and 131 retreat from Hunt's Gap

Tigers 121 and 131 head back from Ksar Mezouar towards Mateur after abandoning the attack on Beja. A German engineer team wait beside the bridge, their radio set in the foreground. When the last vehicles have passed they will explode the bridge. A photo taken moments earlier shows damage to Tiger 121.

This photo, courtesy of Mr. Mustapha Ben Rejeb, shows the same place in the year 2016. The 1943 road has been erased and a new, straighter road is in place, but the scene is remarkably unchanged otherwise.
