Tiger 121 retreats from Hunt's Gap

Tiger 121 retreats from the battle at Ksar Mezouar, which is 4 kilometers behind it. A demolition team stands ready to destroy the bridge when the surviving German vehicles have passed. The date is around 1 March 1943, and it is late afternoon. Moments later, another photo will show Tiger 131 here.

This photo, courtesy of Mr. Mustapha Ben Rejeb, shows the same place in the year 2016. The wartime road has been erased and a new, straighter road built, but the scene is remarkably unchanged otherwise.
