Description
A study of an Early Tiger and its crew. The identifier "II" suggests that it's a Befehlstiger because Tiger units usually gave their staff tanks a special numbering scheme, such as Roman numerals. On the extreme right of the photo, we can see a small vertical white line on the roof of the hull. It's the antenna post for the Fu 8 long-range radio and it confirms that we have here a Befehlstiger.
We can see the faded logo of s.Pz.Abt.505 on the superstructure front. Several features of the tank match up to other photos of their Befehlstiger numbered "II"; the item attached to the turret bin; the position and form of the painted mark "II"; and the spare tracks rack. But this photo shows a tank with a camouflage scheme, while the other photos show a much darker tank. We must use other photos of this camouflaged Tiger to establish that they are all the same tank.
