Description
The antenna post on the hull roof, and the "II" identifier, make this a Befehlstiger. The white patch on the superstructure front suggests it's Befehlstiger II of the 505. There is a wooden pallet-shaped item hanging on the side of the turret bin, and we can apparently see it in an earlier photo of Befehlstiger II.
This photo is published in "Tigers in Combat, Vol. 1" alongside another photo of the same Tiger. A caption states that the photos were taken only minutes apart. But in fact there was a long gap between them, during which this Tiger was painted with a camouflage pattern, dramatically changing its appearance - which the book attributes to the sun coming out.
