Description

This Befehlstiger is one of the first ones built. The cylinder for holding star antennas is on the hull side, because its position on the rear wall has not yet been assigned. There are no smoke launchers visible on the turret, but the photo seems to be damaged there, so it's possible that the German censor excised them.

The presence of the crew's helmets hanging on the turret bin suggests that we're looking at s.Pz.Abt.505, and indeed this seems to be the same Tiger as a Befehlstiger of the 505. It seems to have the same white mark halfway along the hull side. I cannot match the turrets definitively, but the "II" identifier is painted in the same way on both.

The photo research was largely the work of the old TIIF.DE team.
