Description
In August 1943, the 2.company of s.Pz.Abt. 504 fought a battle near Mt. Etna in Sicily with their four last remaining Tigers. As they retreated, three of the tanks broke down. Panzer-Regiment 'Hermann Goering', who were in command of the Tiger company, were mismanaging them and did not provide recovery services; therefore these Tigers had to be destroyed. Two were abandoned close together on the Via Armando Diaz.
