Description
The mudflaps and spare tracks imply that this is a Tiger of s.Pz.Abt.501, probably 2 company. But with so little of it on view it would be hard to identify, except that it has taken a significant hit on its front left corner, knocking a chunk out of the armour edge. This same damage can be seen, crudely repaired, on a later photo of Tiger 841 so that's the tank. And since this damage did not already exist during operation Ochsenkopf, as we can see on another photo, the tank's number must be 841 in this photo rather than 241.
The location is thought to be near Sfax.
