Halftrack in Hunt's Gap, 1942

This is a frame from a colour film, "At the Front" that was shot in Tunisia in December 1942. This frame shows an American M3 troop carrier in Hunt's Gap, heading toward Sidi N'sir. This is the same road that would be used by Kampfgruppe Lang in Operation "Ochsenkopf" three months later.

A farmhouse with a red roof can be seen on the ridge beyond the road. This same farmhouse, now surrounded by more buildings, is visible in modern satellite photos. A new road has been built through the valley and the 1942 road erased, but its line is still visible when the earth is bare. This model of the terrain is from Google Earth.
