Thumbnail image: Tiger 132 gets repaired

Description

This photograph was taken during Operation "Eilbote 1". It shows Tiger 132 under repair; both tracks have been opened and a front outer roadwheel is removed. The cause of the damage was mines and hits, according to the German battle reports for 18 January 1943, when the Tigers of s.Pz.Abt 501 fought their way along this road.

This photo has been claimed to be taken on 4 December 1942, but examination of the original negative strips at the Bundesarchiv proves that cannot be the correct date.

The next photo on the negative strip is another view of Tiger 132 being repaired.
