Thumbnail image: Tiger 132 in Operation Eilbote

Description

This photo shows the difficult terrain encountered during the first day of Operation Eilbote, 18 January 1943. The route winds for 4km between multiple peaks covered in vegetation; the Tigers could not leave the road, though it was heavily mined and targeted from hidden bunkers.

The battle report leads us to believe that Tiger 132 is one of two Tigers disabled in the first two days. Due to the lack of spare parts, it cannot be immediately repaired; instead it will be used as the spare parts reserve for the next few days. The trucks ahead are probably mobile workshops.

The next photo on the negative strip is another view of the repair work on Tiger 132.
