Aspects of the event

Description

Tiger 712 was the first Tiger that came into American hands in WW2 (possibly as a gift from the British). It was shipped to the USA along with several other Panzers and German equipment from Tunisia. The boat was unloaded at a pier in Brooklyn, on Furman St.

LIFE Photographer Ralph Morse was at the scene and took many photographs of the event. The Tiger was of specific interest.
