The Command Tiger contained two radios, each comprising a transmitter and a receiver. The radios were the Fu 5 in the turret, and either the Fu 7 or Fu 8 in the hull. [2, see 3.2.5] . Each of those devices had its own power transformer in a separate metal case. [3, see section B]
Here are the transformers, their maximum dimensions and their purpose: [3, see page 228]
- EUa, measuring 105 x 190 x 305 mm, for the receiver.
- U20a, measuring 170 x 280 x 330 mm, for the Fu 7 transmitter.
- U30b, measuring 155 x 280 x 330 mm, for the Fu 8 transmitter.
- U10a, measuring 140 x 250 x 305 mm, for the Fu 5 transmitter.
The EUa in the hull of the vehicle was hidden under the floor. The other three transformers were visible in the crew compartments. [1]
Ustar's CAD displays reasonably good representations of the three visible transformers. These are the ones in the kit's turret.
The locations of the real turret transformers are not known, but Ustar are almost certainly correct to place them here, ahead of the radio sets. However, their exact placement and orientation is speculative.
The transformer in Ustar's hull has problems. Firstly, it looks very much like a copy of their turret transformer. But the real hull transformer was larger, as this photo shows.
Secondly, Ustar put their hull transformer out of position. The real one was slightly over to the right of this picture, attached in the outline that I have drawn. The flat box that Ustar put there is also misplaced. [1]
