Description
On 12 January 1943, Oberst Thomale (on the right of the photo), representing the top level of government, spoke to the commanders of the 503 heavy tank battalion about their mission in the Ukraine. This photo was taken in their repair yard at Proletarskaja. Tiger "131" was still being repaired after a breakdown on a mission on 7 January. In the background is a portable crane capable of lifting Tiger turrets.
