Description
Troops of s.Pz.Abt. 507 are learning to operate the Tiger, in the training school at Sennelager in Autumn 1943. That much is annotated on the back of this photo.
This particular tank is the 55th chassis in the Tiger's production run. We can read the digits "055" on its front plate, and in the tank training school those are the final digits of the chassis number. The features of this Tiger confirm its early vintage; it has the second type of side fenders, as used on some tanks in Tunisia. It lacks the S-mine system.
