Description

Battle damage to the "Bergetiger" included an external fire, probably from the right-hand upper fuel tank. It removed the Zimmerit from the turret rear. Therefore we can see that this Tiger's turret armour was drilled for the small pistol port, but it was sealed up at the factory. The construction of the turret must date from October 1943 when this port was cancelled.

The turret armour bears battle scars that have been crudely filled. Its subtle vertical lines were made by the machine that bent the 80mm steel plate into its curved shape.

The manually operated winch was added in the conversion of the tank. The weld marks and supports for its former turret bin can still be seen. There are two hooks beside the winch, surely intended to store its handle.
