Thumbnail image: Americans find a Mid Tiger in Cori

Description

On entering the town of Cori, south of Rome, the American army found some abandoned Tigers of s.Pz.Abt. 508. This one is a Mid Tiger with a gun travel lock. Its rear mudguards have been replaced by improvised panels and its wheels are damaged. The Tiger behind it is a Late.

It's not clear why the Tigers were brought to this stretch of road just outside the town, but the way they are placed on alternating sides of the road, with their turrets turned to the town behind them, suggests that they were intending to fight the incoming American troops rather than get repaired here.
