Description
This abandoned Tiger is being stripped of reusable parts; tracks, wheels, muzzle brake, torsion bars are gone. Its side skirts were probably taken by local people, because sheet metal is always useful, and the tank sat here for weeks while the Russians controlled this city. The cupola, engine hatch, a final drive and other parts have been discarded on the ground.
The Tiger's whitewash is being removed by the weather, revealing its underlying paint which is likely RAL 8000, perhaps striped with RAL 7008. Graffiti adorns the front hull and the number "831" is still legible on the turret.
This location was identified on a reconnaissance photo from 1941. The small house behind the Tiger is marked [2] here.
Despite extensive rebuilding of the area, this house still exists as of 2017.
