Thumbnail image: Tiger exploded in Belpasso

Description

This Tiger was demolished by the Germans in Sicily in 1943. The turret sits on the hull, with its floor still attached. The hydraulic traverse gearbox is visible. On a good-quality copy of the photo you can see that there are episcope holes above the driver's visor, sealed up. The muzzle brake has been removed from the 88mm gun.

Location of photo 1121

The location is outside #109, Via IV Traversa, Belpasso, Sicily. Many of the buildings in the photo no longer exist, but the wall with the doorway still exists, as we can see by matching up the stonework to a 2010 photo.
