Description

This is the wrecked hull of Tiger 71 in Tunisia. This Tiger became the company commander's tank after Operation Ochsenkopf and it must have been lost in March or early April 1943. There are impact gouges on the 71's turret but the reason for its demolition seems to be mine damage to the track. A wheel has been blown off and shattered, and the side fenders are bent upwards at the site of the explosion. There is a surviving technical report on the Tiger losses for this period, and it mentions only one Tiger lost to mine damage, chassis number 250017. However it's not clear that this is the same Tiger.
