Description
This Tiger hull has been penetrated by multiple hits. Its turret has been torn off by an explosion, and can be glimpsed lying on the far side of the chassis. The explosion was more likely to be deliberate demolition by the Germans than exploding ammunition.
There are more photos of this Tiger, and they prove its membership of s.Pz.Abt.501. The tank's headlamp bases are on the hull roof, implying that it belonged to the 2nd company. The forward side skirt is bent upward to be almost horizontal, and the mudflaps are of the wide, folding type; therefore this Tiger seems to be the rarely photographed "813", formerly "213". But its final number must have begun with a "7", and cannot be read in any known photograph.
