Description
This photo shows a Sherman of Co. G, 1st Armored Regiment, 1st Armored Division. It was this company that first engaged with the German tanks east of Sidi bou Zid on 14 February.
The photo was taken 26km west of the town, i.e. on the opposite side from the battlefield. The alignment of near and far hills in the photo points us precisely to the spot. The most distant hills are close to Sidi bou Zid.
The tank is crossing a stream in open country, far from any road.
