Description
The crew of this Pz.4 have driven downhill into very muddy fields, 300 m from the road, and they are in a hull-down position behind rocks. Their gun is targetting the area near the Sidi N'sir railway station. The most plausible explanation is that the Sidi N'sir battle is under way. One account states that by noon, "enemy tanks (reported to number 30) and infantry had wormed their way into positions around the flanks of the guns". The location of this tank is consistent with that.
The map position was determined by matching hills on the horizon to those in a modern photograph;
then by identifying the gap in the nearby djebel.
