Description
It is 20 January 1943 and this Pz.3 is part of Kampfgruppe Lüder heading towards Spikha. The background hills prove that it is crossing the Oued Maarouf to reach the hill pass at the Karachoum Gap.
The veteran Uffz. Kempcke annotated this photo: "Die durch zahlreiche Wadi unterbrochene Vormarschstrasse wird mit gewissen Schwierigkeiten ohne Ausfälle überwunden und der Vormarsch in Richtung Qusseltia fortgesetzt." (The route of the advance, blocked by numerous Wadis, is successfully covered with some problems and the advance continues towards Qusseltia.) But Qusseltia is directly behind this Panzer. The tanks will return and attack towards Qusseltia later on this day.
