Description
The hull of Tiger "843" lies demolished in Hunt's Gap. The 25mm steel floor plate is torn in half, blasted through by explosives. Torsion bars point to the sky. Behind it are a captured M2 gun carriage, a Pz.4, and at extreme left the wreck of Tiger 141.
It was very probably this group of tanks that were seen by Edward W. Beattie, reporting for UPC, being bombed by Allied aircraft on 28 February 1943. But most of this destruction was done by the Germans when they withdrew.
At top center of the photo there is an interesting detail; two American mobile workshop cranes are overturning a Pz.4 numbered "852".
