Description
This Tiger of s.Pz.Abt.503 has a tactical number beginning with "23". Although we cannot see its final digit, we know that the 2nd company, at the time when these numbers were painted black, had four platoons with three Tigers per platoon. We also have photos of "black 231" and "black 233" which are different versions of Tiger to what we see here. This can only be "232". The inference is supported by other photos of a "black 232" which, like this tank, is an Initial Tiger.
This Tiger has a Balkenkreuz on its turret sides, which is unusual for the 2nd company. A U-beam is used as a spare track bracket, which is also unusual.
