About this detail of the Tiger
There are two small errors on the rear of the Tamiya Africa Tiger kit.
There was a toolbox at the left of the hull rear wall, below the air filters. The kit provides the toolbox but directs you to put it in only 1 position. In fact it could appear in either of 2 positions on these African Tigers.
The first position for the toolbox is shown in this photo. Its edge is over the towing shackle and it slants down. This was the position of the toolbox on Tigers 131, 121, and 731.
The other position for the toolbox is shown in this photo. It is close to the edge of the hull, and it is perpendicular to the hull wall. This was the position of the toolbox on Tiger 813.
If you are detailing the model with third-party photo-etch sets, please take note; some of them provide a frame with 2 straps to hold this toolbox. But in fact, this frame was not used by any of the Tigers of this battalion. The toolbox was supported on nothing but flat metal strips sticking out from the hull; two of them in the first arrangement, and three of them (with a central strap) in the second arrangement.
The other error on the rear plate concerns the adapter plate that is stored between the exhaust pipes. Tamiya have put it in the right place but at the wrong angle. The two small bumps on it should be vertically aligned, as shown here.
