The hull front of the Tiger had two extensions of the side armour, with holes for towing the vehicle. These extensions were redesigned several times. The extensions provided in the Tamiya kit are of the wrong design.
This is the hull front of a Tiger from s.Pz.Abt.501. All of the battalion's Tigers had identical hull extensions. This differs from the kit in the following ways; it is cut back closer to the hull; it has a notch at the top; and the hole is significantly higher.
