Shock absorbers

To the home page

Four shock absorbers were installed inside the Tiger. Their top ends were firmly attached to the hull wall by steel shafts.

Shock absorber head

The flattened heads of these shafts were visible from outside the tank. This is one of them. This version was found on Mid and Late Tigers. It has a tiny indentation in the center; that was used to hold it firmly in the machining tool that shaped it.

Takom shock absorber head

Takom's version of these heads is unrealistic. They make a relatively large hole, and their head protrudes further than the real one. All four of the shaft heads on Takom's hull look like this.

You can improve the accuracy of the kit by sanding down this item to about half its height, and by filling the hole.
