This is the cupola hatch of a "Mid" Tiger I. This rare photograph catches it exactly edge-on and allows us to see its profile. The "Late" Tiger had the identical hatch.
Extracted from the tank's Turret Manual (D 656/22) this is a diagram of the hatch. I have deleted internal detail to emphasise its profile. It agrees almost exactly with the photograph. Adherence to this diagram would result in an accurate kit hatch.
This is the hatch part provided by Takom in this kit. Its proportions are wrong; it is about twenty per cent taller than the real hatch. It has a "corner" in its top profile about two thirds of the way out, while the real hatch's corner is nearer to the center. I cannot see any practical fix for this part.
