About this detail of the Tiger
The Trumpeter 9539 "Mid Tiger" kit provides several decal schemes. Some of them are not entirely accurate. I will list any errors that I can see on the paint instructions.
Tiger "319" of s.Pz.Abt. 502 : The paint plans show this tank with straight front edges on the hull. But the real "319" had the new notched front edges. The paint plans don't call for any crosses, but the real tank had small crosses on both sides of the hull.
Tiger "101" of s.Pz.Abt. 501 : The real "101" was an earlier model than you can build with this kit. For example, it had its headlight on the side roof, not the center front wall. It had full S-mine equipment.
Tiger "316" of s.Pz.Abt. 502 : We have not found any photos of the real Tiger "316". The kit may be accurate for this tank, but on the other hand, it's possible that "316" was an Early Tiger.
Tiger "132" of s.Pz.Abt. 503 : The decals supplied are red digits with white outlines, but some researchers think that this company of Tigers used black digits. Either way, photos don't seem to show white outlines. The real tank had crosses on the hull sides and also on the turret bin; the decal sheet doesn't call for them.
Tiger "113" of s.Pz.Abt. 507 : This Tiger usually had a run of extra track links on both sides of the turret. The tactical number "113" was partially painted on the track links.
Tiger "212" of s.Pz.Abt. 509 : The real "212" was an earlier model than you can build with this kit. For example, it had its headlight on the side roof, not the center front wall. It had full S-mine equipment.
Tiger "311" of s.Pz.Abt. 501 : It's not clear whether these Tigers had red or black digits; the kit supplies red ones. We don't know any photos of the real Tiger "311", but it was probably an earlier model than this kit builds.
Tiger "313" : I have not been able to figure out what real Tiger these decals are supposed to represent. The instructions don't give a unit name.
Tiger "233" : I have not been able to figure out what real Tiger these decals are supposed to represent. The instructions don't give a unit name.
Tiger "3" of s.Pz.Abt. 508 : Tigers of the 3rd company were marked only with a "3" digit. They were Borgward controllers, therefore they had a small antenna on the turret side, which the kit does not provide.
Tiger "123" : I have not been able to figure out what real Tiger these decals are supposed to represent. The instructions don't give a unit name.
