When you lift the turret from a Tiger model to examine its interior from below, the base edge of the turret is revealed.
This model shows the base of a "Late Tiger" turret. The armour wall is at the outside, and there is a deep gap just inside it. On the inside, the gear teeth protrude down from the turret, covered by a sheet-metal protector (not shown in this model). Between the teeth and the gap there is a flat, wide surface. It has a thin rubber strip embedded in it. Inside the strip there is a pattern of bolt holes, including some recessed flat screws. Two large guide posts might be fixed to the surface to help with aligning the turret. All of this is well defined in the Tiger's manual.
Trumpeter's model fails to reproduce any of this. There is no gap at its outer wall. The flat surface has no bolt holes or screws. There is a wide trench by the gear teeth, but the real tank had no trench here.
