The Tiger had gear teeth in its turret ring, at the base of the turret. They had a sheet-metal cover, but as this photo shows, you could still see them from underneath.
Trumpeter's kit has teeth in the turret base, but there are far too many of them. There appear to be 360 teeth on the model, whereas the real tank had 204. As this photo shows, Trumpeter's teeth are so crowded that they don't really resemble genuine ones.
