The turret of this kit can be lifted off to reveal its interior details. And that exposes a part of the Tiger that is rarely seen: a flat ring on the hull roof.
There were three versions of the ring. This is a model of the final version, found on all Late Tigers. This is the version that Trumpeter's kit should have.
This version has 40 bolt holes near its inner edge, with two larger holes (for guide posts). There are deliberate gaps in the pattern. A further three bolt holes are near the outer edge of the ring.
Trumpeter have molded a seating ring into their transparent roof, and if you choose to paint the roof, it will become obvious. The ring should be painted in red primer colour.
But Trumpeter have not reproduced the correct pattern of bolt holes. As indicated here, their kit has only 24 bolt holes at the inner edge, in a regular pattern with no spaces or extra holes.
It would be possible to create the correct pattern by drilling additional holes, because all of the holes on the kit's ring coincide exactly with real ones.
