Rear mudflaps of Tigers

Early in the Tiger production run, folding mudflaps were designed for the vehicle. They had hinged side flaps that could fold up.

First type of mudflap main plate

The main panel of both left and right mudflaps was the same; the side flap was screwed to either its left side or right side as needed. Notice the cross-shaped hole that accomodates a lamp on the hull.

Second type of mudflap main plate

While "Early Tigers" were being manufactured (1943), the Tiger's rear wall was modified and the cross-shaped hole was no longer needed. The mudflap main panel was changed to look like this. Notice that of the two holes, the larger one is at the left.

Mudflaps in this kit

The mudflaps provided with this kit have two errors:

Trumpeter's mudflap

Firstly, they have cross-shaped holes, which were not present on this version of Tiger. You could correct this by filling the gap above and below.

Secondly, they don't put the larger hole always to the left. You could correct this by cutting out the central partition bar and gluing it back in a slightly different position.
