The Tiger had periscopes in its hull hatches. These were old-fashioned vertical periscopes, unlike the newer ones in the "Mid" and "Late" turrets.
This type of periscope comprised two equal halves. The tank had holders for spare half-periscopes; this is a model of one. The bracket on the holder is hinged, allowing the half-periscope to be lifted out easily.
This is what Trumpeter's kit provides. The kit's designers failed to realise that the periscope is made of two parts. They give us a full-length periscope that lacks the central rim where the halves meet. Then they cram this full periscope into the holder where it would not fit in reality. Apparently their holder lacks its top surface.
