Tigers carried a device to align a starter handle with the engine. It was stored on the Tiger's rear wall.
This is the adapter provided in Trumpeter's kit. It has two posts, a small tool clipped to it, and two holes. The starter handle passes through a hole; there is one hole for each type of engine found in a Tiger.
The design of this adapter was changed twice during the Tiger's production run. This photo shows the final version. It is less elegant than the earlier ones, but cheaper and easier to manufacture. Two large bolts hold it together, while two smaller bolts attach it to the tank. Large, crude holes surround them.
Since Trumpeter's kit represents the final version of Tiger, it should carry the final version of adapter. But the kit provides an earlier version, one that is suitable for "Mid" Tigers from the previous year. It is possible but not likely that such a part would be found on a "Late" Tiger.
