About this detail of the Tiger
At some point in time, a support for the standard German 'scissors' observation periscope was added to the Tiger 1 cupola. It is not present in the 'Aberdeen' vehicle, hull #31, but it is present in the Bovington vehicle, hull #122. I will discuss the support in the first kind of cupola.
This photo shows the support in the Bovington vehicle.
In this photo, one of the head pads is missing at the left. Notice that the support folds away beneath a vision port.
The support arm is supplied on a small, curved metal plate. The plate is held to the roof by two of the cupola bolts.
The design is very simple. There are two axes of rotation and two small knobs to lock them. I don't know how much elevation/depression was possible.
