About this detail of the Tiger
The original type of roadwheel used on Tiger I was fitted with external rubber tyres, shown here. They had an overall radius of 400mm and their maximum width seems to have been 90mm. The flat outer face of the tyres was 60mm wide.
There exists a profile diagram of these tyres, produced by Russian intelligence, that shows four rectangular shapes within them. I am guessing that these were metal bands embedded in the rubber for strength.
The tyres carried the Continental logo.
