Changes to the Tiger's design were introduced almost at random times. The tank was not built in distinct "blocks" or batches.
At the end of 1943, while the "Mid" version Tiger was still being produced, a change was made to the hull front. Notches were introduced to the vertical edges.Only the last few "Mid" Tigers got the notches. In this photo the notch is indicated.
This kit has decals for several Mid Tigers, including Tiger "217", the second Tiger used by the famous Otto Carius.
The real Tiger "217" had the notch. In fact the above photo shows Tiger "217".
But, as per the pre-release images, Rye Field's kit does not include a notched hull front for Tiger "217".
