About this detail of the Tiger

The Tiger's starter crank had two parts, a shaft and a handle. The shaft was stored on the lower rear hull wall from 1943 onwards.

During the "late" Tiger period, the antenna storage tube on the rear wall was moved over to the right side, and there was no longer room for the shaft. The designers, as usual, switched the shaft over to the opposite side to solve the problem with a minimum of work on their part.

Placing the starter shaft on a Late Command Tiger

Rye Field's instructions tell you where to put this shaft on a standard Tiger, but they don't tell you where to put it on a Command Tiger. In fact their rear wall doesn't have locating holes on that side. Nevertheless, this is where the shaft (part Z16) should be placed for Tiger "007".
