This kit supposedly builds a Tiger associated with Kurt Knispel. It is Tiger 101, the tank that he was photographed in. And the kit's decal sheet has extra digits in the style of the 503 battalion, so that other Tigers can be built.
The 503 was formed with a full complement of 20 Tigers. Rye Field's decal sheet has many digits on it, but is somewhat imbalanced, with twenty-seven "1" digits and no "3" or "4".
From that sheet we can assemble markings for four actual Tigers : 101, 111, 112 and 201. But the topic of the kit, Tiger 101, poses a problem that the other three don't have.
The "Kurt Knispel Tiger" had a turret side hatch. But this kit's turret has two pistol ports and no side hatch.
