About this detail of the Tiger
The tow cables, which lie on the Tiger's hull roof, are oriented with their ends either at the front or the rear of the vehicle. Only a small number of Tigers had them at the rear; about 17 Tigers, at the beginning of the production run.
The tow cables in Dragon's kit "6608 : Tunisian Initial" are unusually small. But in fact, they are correct. When a Tiger's cables are stored with their ends to the rear of the tank, they are small cables of a type normally used on smaller Panzers. The eyes and the end sleeve are considerably smaller than those on the standard cable. When the larger standard cable was introduced, it was stored with its ends to the front of the tank.
Dragon's 6608 is the only kit that correctly represents the cable size of these Initial Tigers. In Dragon's 6600, Rye Field's 5001, and Cyber Hobby's 6286, the tow cable ends are oversized. Dragon's 6252 does not contain tow cables. All other kits representing "initial" Tigers have the large tow cables stored with their ends to the front; in some kits this is a double error, in others it is correct.
