About this detail of the Tiger
Most Panzers had an intercom system of one type or another, so some of the crew wore headsets. These were wired and plugged into sockets. Often they were left loose around the tank (photo, item 1) but they did have storage boxes, one per set.
This example box is in Bovington museum's Tiger "131" and has its original paint and decal [1] . But the box was a standard part, used in many different types of Panzer.
The box had a hinged lid and was internally padded.
This diagram shows the dimensions of the box [1] . It had three holes in its back wall, allowing it to be bolted to a vehicle. They are marked here.
