About this detail of the Tiger
The Hachette Tiger Tank model includes interior components such as the main cooling fans. You can see them in this photo from Hachette's own website. If you open the model's rear grilles, these fans will be visible. (The grilles were sometimes left open when a Tiger was travelling a long distance.)
But the fans in the model simply could not work. There are gaps all around the fan housing, and the air could flow back around to where it came from.
In a real Tiger, a sheet-metal baffle plate was placed over the fans, to block off the gaps around the sides. This is a Tiger's baffle plate.
Here are the fans of the Tiger at Bovington Museum, with the baffle plate installed. It fits snugly to the sides of the compartment.
You can improve the accuracy of your Hachette Tiger Tank kit by building these simple baffle plates.
