About this detail of the Tiger
The Tiger had a small gearbox for raising and lowering the gun. It seems that this item is missing from the Hachette Tiger Tank kit, and you could improve accuracy by adding it.
The gunner sat on the left of the gun, but the gearbox was on the right side. Therefore a shaft passed underneath the gun, from the handwheel to the gearbox. In this photo from the Tiger in Saumur museum, the handwheel is at the left, the gearbox is at the right, and the gear teeth on the gun itself can be seen at top right. The photographer is sitting on the rear turret floor.
This photo is taken from where the gunner's knees would normally be. You can see the shaft entering the gearbox, and the housing for the wheel that elevates the gun. The wedge-shaped part at top left is fixed to the gun.
This is a closeup of the rear of the gearbox.
